Why we are turning off “social media”

Dear friends,

“social media” is anti social, as far as we can see.  We think being social means meeting each other where we are – in person – and sharing common ground, exploring the mysteries that define us, separate us, and in time, bring us together again.  We can’t see that “Facebook” or “Instagram” or any of its successors or permutations is in any way building community.

We think community is far deeper than pictures and words.  It is based on actions that build trust over months and years.  Music is one of the most powerful ways that meaning is carried forward through the generations.  It is why we support musicians all day long, and all through the year.
