Born on a snowy Fat Tuesday night of 2012, the Soggy Po' Boys have been honing their craft of New Orleans' music in their Tuesday residency in their home town of Dover New Hampshire. The New Orleans flavored septet doesn’t just play their weekly gig and call it at that. No, they fit in more than a hundred shows every year, from festivals and concerts to politics-infused burlesque collaborations and street parades. We are delighted to welcome the "Boys" back to Crows' Feat Farm
Born in New Orleans, raised in rural Louisiana and now based in Portland, Maine, Rodney Mashia has been touching hearts and making folks smile for decades with his music. He has entertained at many venues in New England with his soulful vocal interpretations, guitar and flute. From folk to jazz to soul to pop to his evocative original compositions, Rodney's life experiences have spanned the black and white American political and music cultures of the past five decades, all contributing to his unique songwriting and musical style, which he calls ‘Acoustic Soul - Music by and from the Heart’.
The Big Note is a mystical concept borrowed from Frank Zappa. It is a place of many songs, dance moves, West African rhythms, delicious cocktails, romance, lyrics that have come down from ancient stone tablets—music that is forever relevant and happening now. The band includes pianist Kent Allyn, a veteran of 43 years in the Big Note adventure; Dr. Milt Reder as guitar savant; Jesse Williams on bass for over 20 years; and new drummer Jim Gwin, who also plays with the Boston Pops.
David Roth strikes many chords, hearts, and minds with his unique songs, offbeat observations, moving stories, and powerful singing.
His songs have found their way to Carnegie Hall, the United Nations, several Chicken Soup for the Soul books, the Kennedy Center, Peter, Paul, & Mary’s “Discovered” and the Kingston Trio’s “Born at the Right Time”. Winner of 5 Positive Music Awards and the 2015 Grace Note for Outstanding Contribution to New Thought Music, the former artist-in-residence at New York’s Omega Institute has also been a songwriting judge at Kerrville, Napa Valley (CA), Tumbleweed (WA), Eventide Arts (MA), the Avalon Festival (WV), the South Florida Folk Festival, and the Rhode Island Songwriters Association (RISA).
