Hands-On Learning Opportunities
Crows’ Feat Farm offers an array of workshops to bring our farming and food to the community – and it’s an opportunity for us to also learn from you! These sessions are designed to be fun-with-friends gatherings to learn about regenerative gardening principles and practices, farm-to-table cooking, home canning basics, and poultry processing. All of these activities are among the day-to-day work of the farm, and we’d love to share them with you!

Farm to Table Cooking School
This workshop will take you along the journey from field to delicious food! We will identify the best seasonal options for a wonderful menu for lunch or dinner, discuss meal combinations that produce a perfect balance of health, taste, texture and visual satisfaction. We will discuss efficient meal preparation strategies for the time-limited home chef, and will produce a complete meal together. Participants will take home one or two dishes to share with family and friends. Saturday mornings from 10-1 pm on June 29, July 13, July 27, August 10, August 24 and September 7th. Price $50 per session.

Home Canning BasicsThis workshop will will help you understand and select among various options for food preservation, based on your goals and circumstances. We will explain the critical steps to ensure safety in the canning of acid, acidified, and low-acid foods. We will select produce from the farm, prepare it to be canned using each of these methods over three workshop sessions, and give you the product to take home with you. Price $25 per workshop. Introduction to Regenerative Gardening
This workshop offers a hands-on introduction to the principles and practices of regenerative gardening and permaculture (aka permanent agriculture). We will discuss the importance of, and strategies for soil building, water and weed management, crop selection & rotation and much more! You will be provided with learning materials and a workbook to record your notes and progress. Price $25

Poultry Processing
This workshop will walk you step-by-step through the process of safely and compassionately butchering a chicken. Along the way we will discuss how to raise chickens for meat, how to keep them happy and healthy, and key steps to ensure your bird is handled properly. You will leave with your freshly-butchered chicken, ready to eat or freeze in 5-7 days. Workshops will be held in early June and late September. Price is $50 .
