Introduction to No-Till Gardening
This spring we are offering a weekly series of gardening workshops that will help you appreciate, and learn to foster, the vibrant soil conditions that result from no-till farming practices – the best way to grow the healthiest vegetables at a price you can afford.
The course, taught by Karen Parker Feld and John F. Reynolds, follow the practices of Crows’ Feat Farm, a high-functioning, organic microfarm. The workshop provides a hands-on introduction to building soil biota, selecting and arranging seeds for maximum yield, propagating seedlings, planning your garden layout, transplanting, water and weed management, harvest and storage, and preparing your beds for winter. Learning materials and a workbook for notes and plans will be provided.
The workshops will be held at the new farmstand building at 180 Drinkwater Rd, weekly on Tuesday evenings at 6pm. Refreshments will be served.
The price for the introductory workshop – which outlines the rationale and general approach – is $25; subsequent workshops are $15 each. Sign up below for the introductory workshop; we will provide a payment a link for subsequent sessions, or you can pay when you come.
Beginning gardeners, who would like to work together under our supervision, are eligible to join the Crows’ Feat Community Garden program. For more information please contact [email protected].
