Lightning Strikes Twice

In 1994, at the age of 42, Tony Cicoria was struck by lightning and (nearly) died. When he returned to life, he developed an insatiable desire to master classical piano. Despite having never played an instrument, Tony dedicated the next decade to bringing to life the music that came to him in a dream. Hearing Tony’s story in 2020, Karen developed a burning desire to find a world-class pianist who would bring Tony’s exceptional music to the whole world. Internationally-acclaimed composer and pianist Asiya Korepanova was immediately drawn to the Lightning Sonata. She has delivered a bold yet sensitive interpretation of the piece, as well as others Tony has written. Asiya is also engaged in educational outreach to young artists and aspiring composers who will be inspired by Tony’s story.

The result is an electrifying experience – music from another world.
